HANDBELL WORKSHOP TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY

“MAKAWAO – A free handbell workshop will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Makawao Union Church.

It will be taught by Mark Zuern, who has been playing for 16 years and is a member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. He has performed in choirs and smaller groups and as a soloist.

The North Dakota resident has even done outdoor caroling in temperatures 20 degrees below and 90 above zero.

Zuern has participated in workshops in North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Alaska, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

He is the son of Ed Zuern, who has been interim pastor at Makawao Union since January.

Ed Zuern and his wife, Louise, are here while the church seeks a permanent pastor.
