SUNBURY – OR Productions announces the release of its 2008, “A Susquehanna Valley Holiday” music CD today. The CD features musicians from the central Susquehanna Valley. Nineteen tracks and 65 minutes of music are featured on the disk, which includes traditional favorites and original holiday tunes.
Recorded at Kimbo Studios and in First Presbyterian Church in Bloomsburg, the disk features a wide variety of styles from acapella choir, to pop-rock, to handbell choir, to folk, jazz and blues.
In keeping with a “help the local community” philosophy, the founders of OR Productions, Steven Olofson and Robert Roush, are selling the disk at local “Main Street” businesses in central Susquehanna Valley towns.
When asked why they are doing this, co-producer Steven Olofson said, “There is a line from ‘Kwanzaa Kuumba’ by Jason Perez, one of the 19 songs on the CD, that describes why he enjoys this project: ‘To always do the best that we can to leave our communities more beautiful than the way we inherited them.’ Isn’t that what this holy season is about?” Olofson added.
Artists in order of appearance include: Frank DeLucca, AJ Bashore II, Liana Whitmer, The Rev. Dr. G. Douglass Davies Memorial Handbell Choir, Paul Farnham, Joe Gaughan, Frosty Valley Dulcimer Friends, The Heart of Pennsylvania Women’s Chorus, Chris Whitmer, L. Michael Dove, Steve Hebbard and Gail Shifflett, Steve Olofson, Ed Rhodes, String Theory, LR “Jason X” Perez and the Valley String Quartet.
