William Carey University Chorale to perform in concert

The William Carey University Chorale, the premiere performing ensemble, will present a fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Main Street Baptist Church.
Comprised of 65 singers, the choir will perform the music of Alessandro Scarlatti, John Rutter, Lloyd Pfautsch, David Wehr and Craig Courtney. In addition, Carey Carillon, the university handbell choir, and Carpenter’s Wood, the university’s contemporary vocal ensemble, will be featured.
The Brass Ensemble, organ and piano will provide accompaniment for the concert. Speakers and platform participants are Josephine D’ Arpa, Dr. Eugene Owens, Dr. Connie Roberts and Dr. Gene Winters.
The Chorale has a rich tradition of exceptional performances and has recently performed with the Mississippi Symphony in Jackson, served as the featured choir for the Mississippi Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts in Jackson, performed for the 2007 Mississippi Baptist Convention, sung choir tours through Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and performed in Carnegie Hall.
The Chorale is conducted by Dr. Mark Hugh Malone, dean of the Winters School of Music at Carey. Kathy Vail serves as piano/organ accompanist, and will be assisted by Dr. Howard Keever at the piano.
