Mount Gilead ladies’ tea
The Clay County Department of Historic Sites has scheduled its fifth annual Ladies’ Fall Tea from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the historic Mount Gilead Church, two miles west of Kearney.
Space is limited; pre-registration is required.
Admission is $10 per person (includes arts/crafts supplies).

Corbin theater
The Corbin Theater will kick off its eighth performance season with the political comedy, “Lying in State!”

Youth contest
The Northland Coalition will sponsor its “Time to Make a Deal” Contest from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Kansas City Police Department’s Regional Police Academy, 6885 Pleasant Valley Road in Kansas City, North.
The contest, which can be viewed by the public, will pit teams of seventh-grade students from area Northland schools against each other.

Civil War re-enactment
The Shoal Creek Living History Museum will present a re-enactment of the American Civil War from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the museum grounds at Hodge Park in Kansas City, North.
The event will be staged by local Civil War re-enactors and historians from the 7th Consolidated Co. and the 30th Missouri volunteers. Admission is $3 per person; age 5 and under are free.
Food drive
Tuileries Plaza will hold a “Dickens of a Celebration” 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
The event includes a food drive for Harvesters, carriage rides, carolers and a hand bell choir.
The retail center is off I-29 and Northwest 64th Street.
Time change lecture
North Kansas City Hospital has scheduled a presentation titled: “How Time Changes Affect the Human Internal Body Clock” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the hospital’s Prairie View Room at the Health Services Pavilion.
The free event is sponsored by the hospital’s sleep apnea support group. Call 816-346-7450.
Engineering careers
Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods has scheduled its annual Engineering Career Night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the college’s Campus Center, 2601 N.E. Barry Road.
The program, which is open to high school juniors and seniors, will provide information about Maple Woods’ engineering program, careers in engineering, community college transfer agreements with the Missouri University Science and Technology program, class demonstrations and visits with college faculty members.
