Salvation Army starts red kettle campaign Monday

The Encore Hand Bell Ensemble will play at 7 p.m. today (Sunday, November 11,2008) at the Oshkosh Salvation Army as a prelude to the start of the 2008 red kettle campaign. The event will also honor Oshkosh Salvation Army Capt. Yalanda “Yoley” Harsh, who died unexpectedly on June 28 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee due to complications associated with a heart attack. She had assisted her husband, Johnny Harsh, in operating the Oshkosh Salvation Army.

A freewill offering will be taken at the hand bell event with proceeds given to the agency’s food pantry. Lord Burr said a social hour with homemade desserts and refreshments will follow the hand bell performance.
