The Dare Team Press has just released a very easy chordal accompaniment for “Silent Night”
with color coded chords for use by beginners and non-music readers; each ringer plays on two of the three chords.

It could even be used in nursing homes, community centers or Sunday School classes as a spontaneous ringing experience by distributing the chimes to three distinct areas.
Identify the color for each area and cue each group when it is their turn to ring.

One crucial feature of these scores is that the chord notes have been carefully assigned to avoid common tones because beginners and non-readers might be confused if one of their two notes must ring on two different colors.
(Unfortunately, avoiding common tones makes the E-flat chord a bit
thin.)

The web site scores are based on the full 3 octave chords for “Silent Night” included in the 3/4 meter and dotted half notes lesson my upcoming book for beginning ringers.

My bell choir uses this simple version every Christmas Eve because we can get it ready with very little rehearsal time.
Memorizing the easy color sequence of the chords enables us to ring in the dark during the candle lighting ceremony.

The free scores and guidelines posted on our web site can be downloaded and reprinted for your choirs.

PLEASE NOTE:
I am fully aware that most of you who read this could create a similar arrangement without any help from me.
The advantage of this one is it is already done in several configurations! Perhaps this will save you some time and effort.
