Good neighbours
AND talking of volume at concerts, Dunblane Cathedral Handbell Ringers are holding a craft fair at the Cathedral Hall on March 21 to raise funds.
Now, modern handbells sound a bit like a music box – a nice gentle sound. However, with the name Dunblane Cathedral in their title, some folk get confused. Which is why when they arrived to give a concert in Stirling, the ensemble was greeted by a panicking hall-keeper shouting: “We can’t have the concert tonight – I forgot to warn the neighbours about the noise.”
Incidentally, hand-bell concerts are not always sedate. Every time they play the Can Can, audience members young and old rush forward to give a demonstration.
