On Monday, April 20st at 11:15 AM, the bell choirs of Hancock United Church of Christ will perform their sixth annual Patriots’ Day concert at Hancock Church, 1912 Mass Ave on the historic Lexington Battle Green. The concert of American music will be performed on 5 octaves of Schulmerich bells and 6 octaves of Malmark chimes. Ringers range in age from 10 to 80 years and are members of Hancock’s six handbell choirs. This is a family-friendly concert, with music for every age. This year’s program includes marches from Sousa and King, a Disney movie theme, and the Ashokan Farewell from the PBS special on the Civil War. The concert venue is accessible; a suggested donation of $3.00 benefits the handbell scholarship program for ringers to attend the AGEHR Area 1 Festival/Conference in June. The program is timed to fit right between the road race (the finish line is in front of the church) and Paul Revere’s arrival at noon.
