On Saturday 6th June The British Music Experience along with Mercury Records will be hosting a very special event to celebrate the anniversary issue of Mike Oldfield’s groundbreaking album Tubular Bells: The Hand-Bell Ringers of Great Britain Vs The Orb.

Visitors will witness two very special performances; The Hand Bell Ringers of Great Britain, complete with Europe’s largest bell and chime orchestra will be playing extracts from Tubular Bells as well as a selection of their own repertoire, and The Orb, the legendary ambient house pioneers, will perform a unique Orbular Bells DJ set.

There will also be a chance for visitors to have a go at taking part themselves in bell ringing workshops as well as experience a range of ambient music and visual exhibits.

This unique afternoon is included in the price of admission to The British Music Experience, a permanent, high-tech, interactive music exhibition housed at The O2, and kids are welcome to visit the exhibition for FREE.

Paul Lilley, curator of The British Music Experience, commented: “Tubular Bells is a much loved classic British album and I can’t think of a more appropriate place to celebrate it than at The British Music Experience, fast becoming the home of music history in the UK. Interactivity is key to the exhibition and I know children and adults alike will be clamouring to have a go themselves.”
