Position:  Director of Handbell Choirs, First United Methodist Church
of Glendale

Summary:  The First United Methodist Church of Glendale has a long
tradition of excellence in music. The handbell ministry consists of
two adult handbell choirs, each with approximately ten ringers.
Rehearsals are currently held Monday evenings from 6 to 9. Handbells
play in the church service twice per month, one Sunday for each group,
as well as for special occasions such as the late Christmas Eve
service and the annual concert in the spring. The church owns 5
octaves of Malmark handbells (refurbished summer of 2009), 3 octaves
of chimes and a good quality handbell library.

Starting Date:  September 2009

Salary:  Commensurate with experience and responsibilities

Qualifications:  Demonstrated success directing handbell choirs. Must
have excellent personal and managerial skills. Must be able to work
with ringers with ability ranging from beginner to professional.
Successful candidate is expected to be a member of AGEHR.

Responsibilities:  Conduct and administer an established adult
handbell program consisting of two handbell choirs of about ten
ringers each. Oversee budgetary, recruiting, production and
performance activities. Oversee maintenance and all use of the
handbell equipment and library. Consider expanding program as
appropriate. Work in collaboration with the Director of Music
Ministries and pastoral staff.
