12th International Sacred Music Festival begins today

Today through September 3, the 12th International Sacred Music Festival takes place in Riga and Jurmala.

 

At the opening concert at 7 p.m. tonight in Riga St. Peter’s Church, two Latvia premieres of “Also sprach Nietzsche” and “Supreme Silence” by Peeter Vahi (Estonia) will take place, performed by musicians from the Estonian National Male Choir “RAM”, handbell ensemble “Arsis”, Helen Lokuta (mezzo soprano) and the composer Vahi himself on keyboards. The conductor will be the young and talented Estonian Risto Joost.
