Alderney Week may be over but that doesn’t mean an end to the seasonal celebrations.

St Anne’s Church summer fete topped the social calendar in the island this week with around 300 people enjoying the annual occasion in bright sunshine at the Island Hall.

In something of a run-up to the January sales, those in the know queued for the 2pm opening, with many bee-lining for the freshly baked cakes and meringues stall.

Fresh fruit, garden produce, home-made jams and chutney were also fete favourites.

For the devoted there was a chance to buy a variety of St Anne’s Church kneelers. The church theme continued with bell-ringers shuttlecock and a hand-bell concert.

The proceeds, hopefully in excess of £3,000, will go towards the general upkeep of the church.
