BELLS OF SUNRIVER IN CONCERT

 
The Bells of Sunriver presents B is for Bells, Beethoven, Bach, and the
Beatles. This public concert is Sunday, May 1, 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity
Church on Cottonwood Road in Sunriver, Oregon. The concert is brought to
you by the letter "B" and includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Bizet and
titles such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B, Bingo, and Beauty & the
Beast.

The Bells of Sunriver, an ecumenical group of handbell ringers created by
Sunriver Christian Fellowship, was created out of its music ministry. The
Bells of Sunriver, very active in the community, present programs at
schools, retirement homes and community events. 
 
This free event features solos, duets, quartets and full choir pieces and
includes not just handbells but also vocals and flutes and some surprises.
The concert is free and suitable for all ages. For more information contact

Bells of the Sound, a community handbell ensemble from the greater
Seattle area, announces its fifth composition contest – “All That
Jazz.” Published winning compositions from prior contests include
Andromeda by Nancy Hascall, Space Suite by Brian Childers, Dante’s
View by Ron Mallory, The Journey Home by Paul McKlveen, Comrades,
Haste – Faster the Steel Press! by Matthew Prins and Bumping Noses by
Michael Glasgow.
 
Contest entries should be original compositions or new arrangements
with a jazz flavor, including any and all jazz genres. We are looking
for music inspired by passion, filled with great rhythm and unique in
its expression. Winning compositions will be premiered at the Bells of
the Sound annual spring concert series in 2012.
 
Awards will be given for:
First Place – $1000
Second Place – $500
